Abstract
This article examines variations in e-cigarette brand use and frequency among U.S. adolescents and young adults aged 15–24, focusing on differences by race and ethnicity. Using data from a cross-sectional online survey of 6,387 current e-cigarette users collected between January 2022 and June 2023, the study found that Black and Hispanic users more frequently reported JUUL and Puff Bar as their usual brands compared to White non-Hispanic users, who more commonly used brands with greater flavor and nicotine options such as EB Design, SMOK, Hyde, and Vuse. Frequency of vaping also varied by brand and race/ethnicity, with White and other non-Hispanic users generally vaping more days per month than Black or Hispanic users of the same brand. The study highlights the importance of monitoring e-cigarette brand preferences by race/ethnicity to better understand nicotine exposure, targeted marketing, and potential health disparities among youth and young adults.
