Abstract

A recent report from the University of Minnesota discusses the mental health needs of Cambodian refugees who resettled in the United States. The study found that many Cambodian refugees suffer from untreated mental health disorders such as posttraumatic stress, depression, anxiety-related disorders, and complicated grief. The research also highlighted severe disruptions in family relationships and substance abuse due to a lack of access to culturally responsive mental health treatments. The findings suggest the need for culturally tailored interventions to address the mental health and relational challenges faced by multigenerational Cambodian families. [Extracted from the article]
