Abstract

A recent study conducted at Universitas Prima Indonesia compared the Interleukin-1b-511 C/T polymorphism in individuals with schizophrenia from Batak and Minangkabau ethnicities in Pematang Siantar, Indonesia. The research aimed to explore genetic differences between these ethnic groups to better understand susceptibility to schizophrenia, highlighting significant demographic variations and allele distribution differences. The findings suggest that the IL-1b-511 C/T polymorphism may play a distinct role in the susceptibility to schizophrenia among these ethnicities, indicating potential ethnic-specific risk factors or protective elements.
