Abstract

This article examines the impact of the 2023 Israel–Hamas war on Palestinian women's filmmaking, focusing on the disrupted productions of Annemarie Jacir's *Palestine 36* (2025) and Cherien Dabis's *All That's Left of You* (2025), as well as the destruction of Shashat Woman Cinema's Gaza office. It situates these filmmakers within a historical continuum from revolutionary documentary traditions to contemporary narrative fiction, highlighting how they assert narrative agency by centering female subjectivity, memory, and resistance amid occupation, censorship, and displacement. The article also discusses the broader challenges Palestinian women filmmakers face, including political instability, censorship, and infrastructural destruction, while emphasizing their commitment to self-representation as a form of cultural preservation and political resistance. Collectives like Shashat and cultural spaces such as Dar Jacir play vital roles in sustaining Palestinian women's cinema, which continues to evolve despite ongoing conflict and adversity.
