Abstract
This article focuses on the development and implementation of a flexible, evidence-based neuropsychological assessment protocol tailored for primarily Spanish-speaking adults residing in the United States, addressing the heterogeneity of the Latina(o)/Hispanic (L/H) population. It reviews culturally and linguistically appropriate neuropsychological instruments selected based on availability, normative data, and clinical experience, emphasizing the challenges posed by diverse migration patterns, language proficiency, education, and cultural factors. The protocol includes core and supplemental measures across cognitive domains, with recommendations for test selection informed by sociocultural demographics and a case illustration demonstrating clinical utility. The authors highlight limitations such as scarce robust normative data representative of the U.S. L/H population and advocate for future research to expand normative samples and improve culturally competent neuropsychological care.
