Abstract
The article examines the controversy about the history textbooks in Tajikistan. Topics discussed include the muted debate on Russian and Soviet decolonization, the accusation of Russian State Duma Deputy Mikhail Matveev that the Tajik history curriculum is an anti-Russian propaganda, and the criticism on the expansion of the Russian Empire into Cetnral Asia and description of the establishment of Soviet power in Central Asia in Tajik textbooks.
