Abstract
This article systematically reviews empirical studies from 2013 to 2023 on correlates of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in Hispanic older adults. It identifies risk factors such as advancing age, chronic kidney disease, low education, depression (with or without diabetes), cardiovascular disease risk, and social isolation. The review also examines the role of acculturation, neuropsychological performance, brain atrophy, and education in MCI among Hispanics, noting some regional and ethnic differences compared to non-Hispanic populations. Limitations include small sample sizes and gaps in understanding regional variations within the diverse U.S. Hispanic population.
