Abstract
The article discusses how Hungary's Fidesz government, led by Viktor Orbán, utilizes historical revisionism and irredentist symbols to emphasize the notion of "Greater Hungary" and grievances over lost territories due to the Treaty of Trianon. This strategy, aimed at domestic political gains, strains Hungary's relationships with some neighbors. The government's commemoration practices, citizenship laws, and irredentist rhetoric have sparked tensions with neighboring countries, particularly Ukraine, Slovakia, and Romania. The Orbán government's irredentist narrative and actions have raised concerns among neighboring countries and the EU, impacting regional cooperation and the integration of Hungarian minorities.
