Abstract
The article focuses on a study conducted by researchers at University College Cork, exploring mental health staff's perspectives on the film "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" as it marks its 50th anniversary. Through semi-structured interviews with 15 participants, five themes emerged, including reflections on the film's impact on stereotypes and stigma surrounding mental health care. The research indicates that while perceptions have evolved since the film's release, negative views persist, suggesting the need for media campaigns to improve the public image of mental health professionals. The study emphasizes the importance of continued improvements in mental health care and education to further reduce stigma and power dynamics. [Extracted from the article]
