Abstract
The article focuses on a study assessing the risk of eating disorders and body image perception among elite Polish contact karate athletes. Conducted by researchers from the Medical University of Silesia, the study involved 55 athletes and utilized validated tools such as the Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26) and the Dusseldorf Orthorexia Scale (DOS-PL). Findings revealed that over half of the athletes exhibited potential eating disorder risks, with notable differences between genders in body esteem and eating attitudes. The research emphasizes the need for prevention programs that include nutritional education and mental health support to safeguard athletes' health and performance. [Extracted from the article]
