Abstract
The article focuses on Hedy Lamarr, an accomplished inventor and actress, highlighting her significant contributions to technology during World War II. Born in Austria in 1914, Lamarr, originally Hedwig Eva Kiesler, fled to Hollywood where she became a famous actress while simultaneously pursuing her interest in invention. Alongside composer George Antheil, she developed a groundbreaking wireless communication system using "frequency hopping" technology, which laid the foundation for modern wireless technologies like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Although her invention was not utilized during the war, it was later recognized and adopted by the US Navy in the 1960s, leading to her posthumous acknowledgment with the Electronic Frontier Foundation's Pioneer Award in 1997.
