Abstract
The article focuses on *Bronze Age* (1955), a short Swedish art film documenting 3,000-year-old rock carvings on Sweden's west coast, and its role within the post-war art film genre. Directed by journalist Lars Krantz with cinematographer Andrej Gavrjusjov, the film exemplifies mid-20th-century art documentaries that combined artistic experimentation with educational aims, notably presenting the carvings in their natural environment. The film premiered at Cannes and was distributed through various cinematic and non-cinematic venues, including early Swedish television, reflecting the intermedial nature of art films in that era. A new exhibition at Vitlycke Museum in 2025 features a digitally restored version of *Bronze Age* alongside photographs from the original 1954 shoot and exhibition, situating the film within broader historical and visual contexts of rock art representation and public accessibility.
