Abstract

The article describes the lighting strategies used for the Season 7 episode "Hotel Reverie" of the television series "Black Mirror," shot by cinematographer Philipp Haberlandt and directed by Haolu Wang. The episode was inspired by several black-and-white films, including "Sunset Boulevard." They adopted the classic studio look and used a saturated lighting grid. Close attention was paid to period accuracy in choosing the lamps. They decided to use classic three-point lighting for portraits.
