Abstract

This article examines six notable references in *Jurassic World Rebirth* that pay homage to Steven Spielberg's original 1993 film *Jurassic Park*. The standalone sequel, directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp, follows a pharmaceutical company's illegal expedition to a remote island to collect dinosaur DNA for a heart disease drug, featuring new characters and dinosaur species. Key callbacks include a prologue involving a Distortus Rex escape reminiscent of the original's Velociraptor scene, a T-Rex river attack echoing the iconic jeep chase, and a moment of awe inspired by the original Brachiosaurus encounter. The film also mirrors the original's subtle romantic tension between lead characters and recreates tense dinosaur confrontations with new hybrid creatures, while employing a flare distraction tactic similar to that used by Ian Malcolm in *Jurassic Park*.
