Abstract

The article discusses the experience of a man named Will Dowd, who lost his ability to read due to a condition called binocular vision disorder. Dowd wondered if there was a connection between reading and dreaming, and decided to test this theory using a device called the Dormio. He listened to recordings of unfamiliar poems before going to sleep, and when the Dormio woke him up, he wrote down the details of his dream. Dowd found that while there were some intersections between the poem and his dream, dreams naturally resist control. He concluded that the dream world is inaccessible and untameable, providing a relief from the intrusion of technology. [Extracted from the article]
