Abstract
In September 1941, Maj. Gen. George S. Patton led the 2nd Armored Division in a daring maneuver through East Texas during the U.S. Army GHQ Maneuvers. The largest war games in U.S. history at the time, the maneuvers aimed to define the role of armored units in warfare. Patton's audacious tactics and mobility left a considerable impact on East Texas locals and the press, shaping military doctrine for the Second World War. The maneuver showcased Patton's emphasis on motion and audacity, setting the stage for his later successes in North Africa and Europe. [Extracted from the article]
