Abstract
The article reviews a novel by Alexis Soloski that explores the dark side of art-making through the story of Allison Morales, who becomes involved with a cult-like group of avant-garde performers in 1970s New York City. After being expelled from school, Allison joins Theater Negative on a European tour that spirals into chaos, culminating in a tragic incident involving sexual assault and murder. The narrative shifts between the 1970s and 25 years later, as an older Allison reflects on her past and seeks out surviving members of the group. The novel is characterized by its pitch-black tone and the exploration of personal harm and accountability. [Extracted from the article]
