Abstract

This article focuses on the implementation and effectiveness of regulations by Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries allowing forestry workers with bee or wasp allergies to carry auto-injectable adrenaline as a preventive measure against anaphylaxis. It presents a case of a 48-year-old forestry worker with a documented bee allergy who successfully used prescribed auto-injectable adrenaline after developing anaphylaxis from bee stings, highlighting the medication’s role in emergency self-treatment. The report underscores the potential of this regulatory framework to reduce fatal outcomes from insect sting allergies among forestry workers and suggests its applicability to other outdoor occupations worldwide.
