Abstract
This article focuses on Nevada Nordic, the only groomed cross-country (XC) ski area in Nevada, located near Mt. Rose Highway close to Lake Tahoe. Operated by a non-profit organization, Nevada Nordic offers 20 kilometers of free groomed trails on National Forest and Nevada Department of Transportation land, sustained entirely through community donations. The trail network, designed to maximize limited terrain while protecting threatened white bark pines, provides scenic views of Lake Tahoe and surrounding peaks and welcomes diverse users including skiers, snowshoers, and fat bikers. Despite challenges such as limited parking and shared trail use, Nevada Nordic recently acquired a new grooming machine named “Clearapathra” through fundraising efforts, aiming to maintain accessibility without instituting fees. The area serves as a popular and affordable option for beginners and locals, especially during early and late season when other resorts have limited snow. Extracted from the article
