Abstract

The article focuses on the tragic avalanche that occurred on February 17, which resulted in the deaths of nine individuals, including a group of six women who were friends and mothers returning from a backcountry ski trip near Lake Tahoe. The victims, who lived in the Tahoe, San Francisco, and Boise, Idaho areas, were remembered by their families for their love of the mountains and the impact of their loss on their children. The avalanche, described as being the size of a football field, struck while the group was attempting to avoid a winter storm, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing. The tour company involved, Blackbird Mountain Guides, expressed their sorrow over the loss of three staff members who were guiding the group. [Extracted from the article]
