Three New Species of Mimusops (Sapotaceae) from Madagascar.

Three new Malagasy Sapotaceae species are described in the genus Mimusops L.: M. makaka Randrianaivo & L. Gaut. is a relatively common and widespread large forest tree found in the northern part of the eastern lowland evergreen rainforests; it is here evaluated as Vulnerable following IUCN criteria. Mimusops sahakensis L. Gaut. & Randrianaivo is a small seasonal littoral forest tree endemic to northeastern Madagascar in Analabe forest in the Loky-Manambato Protected Area and in the unprotected Ambondrobe forest; it is here evaluated as Endangered. Finally, M. swensonii L. Gaut. & Boluda is a medium lowland evergreen rainforest tree endemic to the southeast, so far recorded only from the Bemangidy forest in the Tsitongambarika Protected Area, and is evaluated as Critically Endangered.
