Abstract

The article focuses on the history and development of the Columbus Carriage Festival, initiated by the Columbus Main Street Program to revitalize the town's historic downtown and utilize the 1917 Fireman's Park Pavilion. Founded with the help of an American Driving Society judge, the festival grew into a well-attended pleasure driving show featuring competitions, community events, and local vendor participation. Over time, leadership transitioned to local organizers, and the festival contributed to improvements such as installing an elevator to make the pavilion's second floor accessible. The event reflects community collaboration to preserve local heritage and promote cultural activities.
