Abstract

The article focuses on tourism trends and hospitality industry developments in Canada's northern regions, particularly the Northwest Territories (NWT) and Yukon, as well as the evolving tourism sector in Surrey, British Columbia. In the NWT, the Aurora Borealis remains the top attraction, drawing a mix of leisure and business travelers, with Yellowknife hotels reporting strong occupancy and an increase in domestic visitors in 2025. Yukon tourism saw record business revenue in 2024, with events like the Arctic Winter Games expected to boost hotel demand in 2026. Additionally, Surrey's tourism industry is poised for growth under the leadership of Xenia Slosarcik, the newly appointed director of business development for the Surrey Hotel and Motel Association, who brings extensive international experience in travel marketing and hotel management.
