Abstract

The article focuses on research conducted in Helsinki, Finland, regarding the relationship between urban forest biodiversity and residents' experiences in Nordic cities. The study, supported by various Finnish cities and the Natural Resources Institute Finland, examined how different biodiversity indicators correlate with perceived forest quality and psychological well-being among city residents visiting spruce-dominated urban forests. Findings suggest that while promoting biodiversity aligns with residents' preferences for forest qualities, management practices should facilitate easy access within these forests. The research highlights the importance of balancing recreational opportunities and biodiversity in urban forest management. [Extracted from the article]
