Central African Republic: Sporadic Unrest.

Abstract
A report by Human Rights Watch (HRW) alleges that the army in Burkina Faso carried out a massacre of 223 people in late February as part of a military campaign against civilians accused of collaborating with Islamist armed groups. The New York-based group described the killings as among the worst army abuses in Burkina Faso since 2015. The Burkinabe authorities rejected the HRW report. In the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), violent clashes have uprooted 5.7 million people across Nord Kivu, Sud Kivu, and Ituri provinces. The UN refugee agency, UNHCR, has provided emergency shelters to over 40,000 vulnerable people in Goma. The violence in the DRC has been perpetrated by various armed groups, including the predominantly Tutsi March 23 Movement (M23), the Islamist Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), and the Cooperative for the Development of Congo (CODECO). In the Central African Republic (CAR), sporadic unrest continues between armed rebel groups and the army, which is supported by the Russian Wagner group and militia groups. The UN's MINUSCA mission has called on rebels and militias to cease hostilities. The report also mentions disinformation campaigns and smear campaigns against Western and UN forces in the CAR, as well as allegations of collusion between MINUSCA forces and rebels.
