Abstract

A string of dangerous thunderstorms hit the Dallas-Fort Worth area, leaving hundreds of thousands of people without power. The storms caused downed trees, flash flooding, and wind gusts up to 70 mph. Tornado sirens were sounded, and hail damaged rooftops, patios, and vehicles. Flight delays and cancellations were reported at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. The severe weather is expected to continue, with an enhanced threat of severe thunderstorms affecting millions of people in Texas. In addition, high temperatures and humidity are expected in southern Texas. The storms also disrupted daily life, with some schools canceling classes and highways experiencing slow traffic due to high winds and debris. This severe weather follows a weekend of tornadic activity in North Texas that resulted in fatalities. The storms also caused disruptions at airports across the US, including Dallas.
