Abstract

The article focuses on political and economic challenges in Somalia, Ethiopia's Tigray region, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). In Somalia, Mogadishu's integration into the East African Community (EAC) faces hurdles including adherence to EAC rules and persistent corruption despite legislative efforts. In Tigray, Ethiopia, internal divisions within the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) and tensions with the federal government complicate post-war governance and regional elections, amid ongoing conflict and territorial disputes. In the DRC, President Félix Tshisekedi's government granted exclusive rights over artisanal gold and other minerals to the UAE-based Primera Group Ltd for 25 years, raising concerns about transparency, local economic impact, and links to conflict financing in mineral supply chains.
