Abstract

This article focuses on the development and validation of a six-dimension scale measuring the experiencescape—defined as the holistic experiential environment—of integrated resorts in Macao. The identified dimensions are hospitality, natural element, cultural proximity, social interaction, multisensory element, and amenity, reflecting a comprehensive framework that extends beyond gaming to encompass diverse aspects of the resort experience. Using literature review, interviews with customers and managers, and quantitative analyses of survey data from 475 integrated-resort visitors, the study confirms the scale's reliability and validity, highlighting hospitality as the most influential dimension. The scale offers theoretical and practical implications for understanding and managing integrated-resort experiences, emphasizing the importance of cultural and social factors alongside physical and sensory elements. Limitations include the lack of differentiation by gaming involvement levels and the absence of predictive validity testing, suggesting directions for future research.
