Abstract

The article focuses on the parliamentary election in Moldova, where the ruling pro-European Action and Solidarity Party, led by President Maia Sandu, is currently leading with 43% of the votes counted amid allegations of significant Russian interference. The pro-Russian Patriotic Electoral Bloc, led by former President Igor Dodon, is in second place with 29%, while the Alternativa alliance, founded by Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban, is third with 8%. Despite the lead, Sandu's party may fall short of a majority needed for continued progress toward European Union integration, especially as the vote count does not yet include many ballots from Moldova's diaspora. The article highlights Moldova's role as a focal point for Russian influence and the geopolitical struggle between Moscow and Europe. [Extracted from the article]
