Abstract
Somalia has expelled the Ethiopian ambassador and closed Ethiopian consulates in the regions of Somaliland and Puntland due to Ethiopia's attempt to gain direct access to the Gulf of Aden. This move by Ethiopia, which involved leasing a sea corridor from Somaliland for military and commercial purposes, has been seen as a violation of Somalia's sovereignty. The tension between the two countries has been renewed, and neighboring countries have expressed concern over the situation. Ethiopia has not yet responded to the expulsion.
