Abstract

The article focuses on a study conducted in Dodoma, Tanzania, assessing community knowledge and attitudes toward mental illness. The research, involving 204 participants, found that while 67.6% of respondents had adequate knowledge and 55.4% held a positive attitude towards mental illness, significant stigmatizing attitudes persisted, such as reluctance to visit or marry individuals with mental health conditions. Factors influencing these attitudes included age, ethnicity, and occupation. The study suggests that enhancing mental health education and community engagement could improve awareness and reduce stigma surrounding mental illness. [Extracted from the article]
