Abstract
The article focuses on the indefinite postponement of Guinea Bissau's legislative elections, originally scheduled for November 24, 2024, due to logistical challenges and lack of funding. President Umaro Sissoco Embalo, who dissolved parliament in December 2023 following armed clashes, has yet to set a new election date amid ongoing political instability and tensions with the opposition African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cabo Verde (PAIGC). The Supreme Court recently invalidated the candidacy of the PAIGC-led Pai-Terra Ranka coalition for the upcoming elections, citing procedural issues, which the coalition disputes. Additionally, protests against the election delay led to arrests and allegations of police brutality, highlighting the fragile political and human rights situation in the country.
