Abstract
The article focuses on the donation and dedication of retired Professor Gary J. Previts' office library collection to the King Salman Central Library at King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The collection, assembled over six decades, was permanently housed and dedicated in May 2025, with Previts emphasizing the importance of studying the development of accountancy thought through three interconnected stages: "WHAT WAS" (historical perspective), "WHAT IS" (current positivist understanding), and "WHAT OUGHT TO BE" (normative vision). Previts highlights that a comprehensive understanding of accountancy requires integrating all three dimensions. The donation aims to support research and education in accountancy at a major global academic center.
