Abstract

The article focuses on recent political and diplomatic developments involving South Africa, Morocco, the African Union (AU), and Kenya. In South Africa, President Cyril Ramaphosa faces pressure to refresh his cabinet with younger ministers amid internal party dynamics, while managing key portfolios including energy and state-owned enterprises. Morocco’s relations with the European Parliament have deteriorated due to the Qatargate corruption scandal implicating EU lawmakers and Moroccan intelligence, complicating trade, migration, and security cooperation despite ongoing EU efforts to strengthen ties. The African Union’s summit in Addis Ababa addresses challenges such as increasing African representation in global governance, security crises, and economic integration through the African Continental Free Trade Area amid geopolitical rivalries and funding dependencies. In Kenya, President William Ruto’s administration is pursuing investigations against allies of his predecessor, reflecting a shift in political power and reminiscent of past authoritarian tactics.
