Abstract
This article focuses on a study conducted at Nazarbayev University in Astana, Kazakhstan, examining mental health profiles among 2,262 university students using a person-centered approach. The research identified four distinct mental health profiles—complete mental health, troubled, vulnerable, and symptomatic but content—highlighting variations in well-being, psychopathology, and distress. Findings indicated that male students in natural and technical sciences with higher GPAs were less likely to experience lower well-being and higher distress, while poor or excessive sleep and increased leisure time were linked to poorer mental health profiles. The study discusses implications for assessment, support, and policy related to university student well-being. [Extracted from the article]
