Abstract
This article focuses on the psychological impact of the February 2023 earthquakes in southern Turkey and Syria on children and adolescents, highlighting increased risks of anxiety, PTSD, and depression among approximately seven million affected minors. It emphasizes the critical shortage of mental health resources in both countries and advocates for scalable interventions such as Psychological First Aid (PFA) and telepsychiatry to address these gaps. The correspondence also stresses the importance of safeguarding children from abuse, ensuring access to education, stable housing, and community involvement to support holistic recovery efforts. Overall, it calls for integrated, culturally sensitive mental health strategies tailored to the socio-economic realities of the affected regions to mitigate long-term psychological harm.
