Abstract
This article focuses on the evaluation and categorization of disability level information in the Norwegian Registry of Primary Health Care (NRPHC) for recipients of long-term care services in 2022. It finds that disability data are generally complete, with 72.4% of recipients registered with all 20 disability measures, which cluster into two meaningful groups: physical functioning and cognitive functioning. The study shows that individuals receiving more complex and extensive long-term care services exhibit poorer physical and cognitive functioning, supporting the validity of the disability measures and reflecting expected care needs. The authors recommend using these grouped disability categories in future research, policy development, and service planning to improve understanding and management of long-term care for Norway's aging population.
