School Physical Environment and Student Academic Performance: a Case of Government Secondary Schools in Makindye Division, Kampala, Uganda.

Abstract
The article focuses on a study investigating the relationship between the physical environment of schools and student academic performance in government secondary schools in Makindye Division, Kampala, Uganda. Utilizing Environmental Psychology Theory and Earthman's infrastructure-performance model, the research involved 149 participants, including students and educators, and employed a mixed-methods design. Findings indicated significant positive correlations between school premises, size, and location with academic performance, with school premises being the most influential factor. The study emphasizes the importance of improving school facilities and suggests strategies for better educational planning and infrastructure policy in urban Ugandan contexts.
