Abstract
A powerful winter storm has significantly impacted the Northeast, causing power outages for approximately 600,000 homes and businesses and leading to the cancellation of over 10,000 flights. Central Park in Manhattan recorded about 20 inches of snow, while Providence, Rhode Island, set a new record with 32.8 inches. Although conditions are improving in New York City, where schools will reopen, transportation disruptions continue, with Amtrak suspending service between New York and Boston. The storm's heavy, wet snow has resulted in downed power lines and tree limbs, particularly affecting Massachusetts and New Jersey. Future weather forecasts indicate the possibility of additional snow in the coming days. [Extracted from the article]
