Abstract
The article focuses on the upcoming trial of French industrialist Vincent Bolloré and two senior executives on corruption and embezzlement charges related to container port contracts in Guinea and Togo, linked to the 2010 presidential campaigns in those countries. The case involves allegations that the Bolloré Group, a family-controlled multinational conglomerate, bribed foreign officials and manipulated campaign consulting services to secure advantageous port management rights. The legal proceedings have spanned over a decade, including rejected plea deals and ongoing civil claims by NGOs accusing the group of systemic corruption across multiple African countries. The article also highlights the Bolloré Group's significant influence in Africa's logistics sector and French media, as well as the broader challenges of prosecuting complex transnational corruption cases.
