Abstract

The article focuses on how market-driven housing strategies in Canada—illustrated through Nova Scotia and Halifax—are worsening the homelessness crisis rather than alleviating it. Topics include the historical shift from public housing to neoliberal policies, the failures of rent supplements and "affordable housing" incentives, and the persistence of myths about public housing that hinder reinvestment in non-market solutions.
