Abstract
This article examines the role of agricultural information sharing in enhancing climate change adaptation among small-scale farmers in Mozambique, a country highly vulnerable to climate impacts. Through mixed methods—including surveys of 100 farmers (52 women, 48 men), focus groups, and interviews with government and NGO officials—researchers identified that oral, community-based information sources and extension agents are currently the most used and preferred channels for agricultural knowledge. Significant barriers to information access include high costs and limited availability of communication technologies, especially affecting women and farmers in remote areas far from the capital, Maputo. Simulation models suggest that tailored, context-specific interventions—such as strengthening extension services and local knowledge networks—are more effective than ICT-based strategies alone, highlighting the importance of addressing gender and geographic disparities alongside broader infrastructural and socioeconomic factors to improve resilience.
