Abstract

Chadian government forces allegedly attacked a town in Sudan's Central Darfur state, leading to the closure of the market and reports of looting. The motive for the incursion is unclear, with some sources suggesting it was in response to the arrest of a Chadian officer by a Sudanese paramilitary group. The Sudanese government has accused the United Arab Emirates (UAE) of supplying weapons to the Sudanese paramilitary group through Chad, a claim that Chad denies. In other news, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger have finalized plans to form a confederation, seeking closer ties with Russia. The Central African Republic (CAR) and Chad conducted a joint military operation to destroy armed groups on their border, facilitated by Russia's Wagner Group. Guinea-Bissau's President has refused to extradite the former leader of the CAR, who is wanted for possible crimes against humanity. Mauritania and Mali held talks on border security and cooperation, while Niger police arrested a Nigerian militant leader wanted for terrorist attacks. [Extracted from the article]
