Abstract

The article focuses on Nevada's Pupil-Centered Funding Plan (PCFP) and the state's education budget for the 2025–2027 biennium, which allocates $13.857 billion to P–12 education and $2.856 billion to higher education. The PCFP provides weighted funding adjustments for English learners, at-risk students, and gifted and talented students, with geographic cost differences accounted for across 17 county school districts and the State Public Charter School Authority overseeing nearly 750 campuses serving 477,563 students. Key investments include $517 million for special education and $17 million for charter school transportation, while workforce initiatives involve the Senate Bill (SB) 460 Commission on Recruitment and Retention and the conclusion of the SB 231 educator compensation program. The article also notes ongoing challenges such as funding constraints, educator vacancies, and the transition from federal pandemic relief funds.
