Abstract
This article investigates the sociocultural trauma experienced by Syrian forced migrants in Russia during the ongoing Syrian conflict, based on qualitative interviews with ten Syrian migrants. It examines trauma across three migration stages—pre-departure, initial arrival, and post-arrival—highlighting challenges such as war-induced displacement, language barriers, cultural differences, legal status difficulties, financial insecurity, family separation, and stereotyping. While some migrants view Russia as a potential long-term home, others consider it a transit country due to integration obstacles including restrictive asylum policies and limited employment opportunities. The study underscores the importance of legal support, social integration, and mental health interventions to enhance the well-being and resilience of Syrian migrants in Russia.
