Abstract

This article reviews the Fashion Heritage Network Cyprus (FHNC) sustainable fashion show held at the inaugural Cyprus Fashion Film Festival (CFFF) in Limassol in June 2024. The FHNC, established in 2021, is a collective of young Cypriot designers and professionals dedicated to exploring Cypriot fashion heritage through sustainable, zero-waste practices, with a focus on cultural sustainability, innovation, youth engagement, and peacebuilding. The show uniquely reimagined Cypriot architectural heritage—from ancient ruins to Ottoman hammams—through eco-conscious fashion, employing techniques such as upcycling, natural dyes, and traditional crafts. Designers incorporated architectural forms and cultural narratives into their collections, emphasizing sustainability while fostering dialogue on heritage and identity. The FHNC’s participation highlighted the potential of sustainable fashion to connect cultural memory with contemporary design and contributed significantly to the festival’s promotion of eco-conscious practices in the fashion industry.
