Abstract
Pakistan's Energy Minister Muhammad Ali and a delegation have traveled to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan to attend a meeting regarding the CASA-1000 project. The project aims to utilize a $1.17 billion structure to export electricity, which would help Pakistan overcome its capacity payment issues. Pakistan, which has an installed capacity to generate 45,000 MWs of electricity, proposes to export electricity to Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan during the winter months through the CASA-1000 transmission line. The meeting will also discuss trade, industries, technology, and investment. The CASA-1000 project has faced delays due to funding issues and regime change in Afghanistan.
