Abstract

A recent study conducted at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in Belgium focused on incorporating patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and patient-reported experience measures (PREMs) in addiction treatment services for individuals with substance use disorder (SUD). The study aimed to evaluate the acceptability and feasibility of using PROMs and PREMs in different treatment services, including inpatient and outpatient settings. Findings indicated variations in education levels, substance use history, and treatment outcomes among different treatment modalities, with challenges identified in implementing these measures in outpatient services. The study concluded that routine monitoring of PROMs and PREMs could enhance understanding of patients' needs and treatment effectiveness, benefiting patients, service providers, and policymakers.
