Abstract
This article focuses on the annual "Immigration in OECD countries" conference, jointly organized since 2011 by the OECD's Immigration Unit and CEPII, with additional sponsors joining over time. The conference serves as a platform for economists and policymakers to discuss immigration's economic, social, and political dimensions, featuring keynote lectures by prominent scholars and recognizing emerging researchers through awards. The article introduces a special issue of the Journal of Economic Geography that publishes selected peer-reviewed papers from the 2022 conference, covering topics such as forced displacement and geopolitics, the impact of Free Trade Agreements on migration and trade, and the relationship between migration, education, and pension systems. This collection highlights the interdisciplinary and evolving nature of immigration economics research.
