Abstract
This article provides a bibliometric analysis of health research related to Greenland and Greenlanders from 2001 to 2020, aiming to quantify research output and identify knowledge gaps to inform future efforts. It found 640 peer-reviewed publications with an average annual growth rate of 2.9%, primarily epidemiologic studies focused on infectious diseases, environmental health, and general health topics. Danish institutions contributed to one-third of the publications, reflecting strong research ties between Greenland and Denmark, while a small number of researchers authored a large share of the work. Funding was predominantly from public Danish sources and private foundations, with some Greenlandic public funding. The study highlights underrepresented medical fields such as rheumatology and nephrology, suggesting areas for future research development.
